Colorized crystal is formed by the hand laying of a thin colored glass layer onto the classic colorless crystal. This color layer is hand cut to exactly fit the crystal base. This technique produces glorious effects due to the contrast between the glittery cut and the color layer. Czech crystal chandeliers first became sought after at the beginning of the 18th century, when the greatest European monarchs decorated their palaces with them. Even today, crystal chandeliers are still produced by small Czech family firms, using the same technology and with the emphasis still firmly on the quality and uniqueness of each handmade item.
