Contemporary Glass Enamel Staining is a process of applying a type of liquid glass material that is Non toxic, Water based, and a permanent dishwasher safe paint to a piece of glass.

Enamels are a paint made from ground glass and pigments, which is usually applied with a tipped bottle for lines or painted on the annealed [cooled] article with a brush wherever the decorative effect is desired. It is then fired on for permanency at which time the glass assumes the desired color and becomes a smooth part of the glass piece, just as you would fire a glaze on to a ceramic pot.
